I am Attila the Hun, also known to the Romans as the Scourge of God, but you may address me as Great King. My reputation still strikes fear and loathing, even after my untimely disappearance from history death, and I have conquered most of Europe and knocked on the gates of Rome itself.
Attila the Hun. 4??-453AD. Believed based somewhere in what is modern day Romania not far from the River Tisza. Believed to have killed his brother, Bleda, in order to usurp the chiefdom of all the Huns. Received huge amounts of gold in tribute from Emperor Theodosius in Constantinople and foiled an assassination plot against him. Went to war against Rome on the pretext of claiming his bride, Honoria sister to Emperor Valentinian, and half the Empire. Defeated in Gaul against Aetius Flavius and King Theodoric of the Visigoths. Marched into Italy, but turned back after a (alleged) meeting with Pope Leo. Died on his wedding night, cause highly debatable, but for this journal, he was poisoned.
He is also rumoured to have had over 200 wives.
This is Attila the Hun. Do not expect him to be fluffy and nice and cute.
(OOC: This version of Attila will, for the most part, be written from the historical perspective and heavily based on what is known and/or surmised from historical sources (which may or may not be accurate or unbiased). Credit must go first to Priscus, who left the only eye-witness account of Attila, Jordanes who probably left the most detailed account (although weighted against the Huns -- he was a Goth), and John Man for his excellent book, Attila which encompasses both of these writers and more.)
This journal is purely for fun, entertainment, and for a writing exercise and no money is made by me from it or the other sources used.. This will strictly be a writing journal and this Attila is only available for limited role-playing of a meta kind in
sixwordstories. The image of Gerard Butler is used just as a representation of the character and is not connected with the actor or the TV-movie "Attila" that he starred in.
